Chhath is a major Hindu festival celebrated in Bihar,
eastern Uttar Pradesh. Almost all culture worshipped the 'God Sun', but it has
a unique form in Bihar.it is the only occasion where the setting sun is
worshipped along with the rising sun. According to the Hindu calendar, Chhath
Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of Kartik month. It’s, also known as Surya
Shashti, is a bathing festival followed by a four-day period of abstinence and
ritual purity.It’s commemorate in the summers after Holi but Chhath which is
celebrated in Kathika month has more importance enthusiastically followed by
people. However, people living away from their hometowns they celebrate this
festival their, devotees assemble at the ghats at rivers and ponds and take a
holy dip before preparing offerings (Prasad).The main item that offerings are
Thekua .which is a wheat based cake. Offerings to preferably cooked on earthen
Chulha (oven).
